WHAT IS SCULPTRA?
Sculptra (PLLA- Poly L Lactic Acid), is a collagen biostimulator approved by the US FDA since 2004. After injection, Sculptra stimulates skin cells to produce new collagen and elastin – this improves skin quality and results in firmer, lifted skin with less fine lines and sagging. Common treatment areas include the temple, cheeks, nasolabial fold and chin.
HOW DOES SCULPTRA WORK?
Sculptra harnesses the intrinsic ability of the skin to rejuvenate itself – PLLA microspheres attract skin fibroblasts to jump start the process of collagen production. The process takes time, with visible results seen only 1-3 months after a treatment. Results are long lasting, with clinical studies showing results lasting over 25 months

A Sculptra treatment takes 30-45 minutes. Topical anaesthetic will be applied beforehand for 15-20 minutes.
ANY DOWNTIME?
No downtime, and clients can return to normal activity right away. There will be mild swelling at injection areas which resolve within 2-3 days. Clients are advised to massage the treated area daily for 5 days.
HOW OFTEN ARE TREATMENTS REQUIRED?
The clinical effect from Sculptra treatments can last for up to 24 months1,2. Repeat treatments can be performed at 12-24 month intervals.
HOW MANY VIALS OF SCULPTRA ARE REQUIRED?
This depends on the client and will be discussed during the consultation, with factors such as treatment areas, treatment expectations and budget being taken into consideration and a treatment plan agreed upon. A rule of thumb would be 1 vial of Sculptra for every decade of age of the client. Typically, 1-2 vials of Sculptra is used during a treatment session.
